From 19 October 2026, new and reassessed NDIS plans show the full amount of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding you are eligible for.
What has changed?
From 19 October 2026, when the NDIA approves your plan, it will include the full amount of SDA funding you are eligible for. This applies whether you already live in an SDA home or you are still looking for one.
Before this change, some plans showed a $1 placeholder for SDA, or an amount lower than the person was actually eligible for. That often caused confusion, especially for people searching for a home who could not show providers what their funding looked like.
What has not changed?
How the NDIA decides whether you are eligible for SDA.
The amount of SDA funding you are eligible for.
SDA funding still pays for the home itself. It cannot be used for other supports in your plan.
This is about how your funding appears in your plan, not how much you get.
Do I need to do anything?
For most people, no.
If your plan currently shows a $1 placeholder, or less than your full eligible amount, the NDIA will update it at your next plan reassessment. You do not need to request a reassessment just for this.
Three quick tips
Check your plan. Look at the SDA line under Capital supports. Note whether it shows the full amount or a placeholder.
Know your next reassessment date. That is when a placeholder amount will be updated.
Ask if something looks wrong. If the amount does not match your SDA eligibility decision, talk to your Support Coordinator, your LAC, or email the NDIA at SDAHousing@ndis.gov.au.
Why this matters
Seeing your full SDA amount in your plan should make conversations with SDA providers much simpler. When you are searching for a home, being able to show exactly what your funding covers helps providers, plan managers and Support Coordinators work out options with you sooner.
